The Mosel Valley, Germany

The Mosel River crawls through Germany, Luxembourg, and parts of France, and the tiny communities along the river produce my favorite wine in the world. German wine country has slate-like soil and towns like Koblenz, Trier, and Bernkastel-Kues offer renowned Riesling, fairytale castles, and a wonderful vacation destination. We trained in from Luxembourg City and rented a car for a drive through the Mosel Valley and wine tasting at the Loosen estate, which did not disappoint.
