Capital City Bakery...Vegan Goodies for All

Austin is home to some amazing, out-of-this-world bakeries. You have Sugar mama's, hey cupcake, Quack's, and Crema bakery, but not everyone can enjoy a cupcake loaded with eggs and cream and milk.

I'm happy to report that my latest bakery find is open to nearly everyone! Capital City Bakery is an amazing vegan bakery on Cesar Chavez, and even though the dairy and animal products are gone, you'd never know it.

I'll sheepishly admit that I've been trying everything this bungalow bakery has to offer - peanut butter crunch cupcakes, rice krispie treats, key lime pie, strawberry cheesecake, pumpkin spice cupcakes - and I haven't been disappointed yet. In fact, I prefer the key lime pie at Capital City Bakery to anywhere else in town. For those of you worried about vegan ingredients altering the flavor - you'd either never notice the difference, or it offers a delicious change.

Offering a rotating menu of pastries, cookies, kolaches, and a solid coffee bar, I can already tell I'm becoming a regular.

They close at 7pm so make sure you head their way soon.
